Harford Mutual Insurance Group Named to 2024 RISE Elite 50 Internships List
Harford Mutual Insurance Group’s Internship Program has been named on the Rising Insurance Star Executives (RISE®) 2024 Elite 50 Internships list, an annual program recognizing the top 50 internship programs in the insurance industry across the U.S., for the fifth year in a row.
Each year, RISE evaluates and selects the most exceptional internship programs that stand out for their commitment to fostering talent, providing valuable experiences, and contributing to the growth and development of young professionals entering the insurance field.
“Having an established internship program in place not only helps creates a future talent pipeline from a recruiting standpoint, but it also offers students valuable insights by connecting real-world experiences with their academic learning,” said Patrick J. Gagen, Vice President of Human Resources at Harford Mutual Insurance Group. “We are proud to have won this award for five consecutive years, recognizing our ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and providing meaningful opportunities for students.”
The 2024 Elite 50 Internships were selected based on key criteria that include mentorship opportunities, leadership development, diversity and inclusion efforts, unique approaches to experiential learning, and more. With more young professionals looking for meaningful career experiences, these internships stand out as industry leaders dedicated to shaping future insurance innovators.
Harford Mutual’s internship program was launched in 2013. Over the years, more than 50 young professionals have interned in multiple departments at Harford Mutual, including Information Technology, Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial, Accounting. Harford Mutual’s Internship Program runs each year from June through early August. During the eight-week program, interns work with employees and managers within their departments assigned and have the opportunity for direct interaction with senior leadership. Since 2013, 23 interns have transitioned into full-time roles at Harford Mutual, with 16 continuing to contribute to the company’s success today.
“This year’s Elite 50 showcases the best of what insurance internships have to offer. They are not just stepping stones—they are launching pads for the next generation of leaders,” said Amy Cooper, Founder & CEO of RISE. These programs are elevating the insurance industry by investing in the growth and development of young professionals, making a lasting impact on their careers and helping companies retain top talent.”
