2025 Board of Directors’ slate of candidates for election

Tedd Alexander
VP Portfolio Specialist

Tedd Alexander is a seasoned investor and entrepreneur with almost 40 years in the investment industry. He started at E.F. Hutton & Co. in 1985, moved to equity analysis at Alex. Brown & Sons by 1990, and then transitioned into portfolio management, co-managing $3.5 billion and sole-managing $600 million. Alexander founded Credo Capital Management, serving as CEO for 10 years, and now represents a $65 billion equity strategy at T. Rowe Price.  

For over two decades, Alexander has served on various non-profit boards, including the Baltimore School for the Arts, Gilman School, Living Classrooms Foundation, and Baltimore Community Foundation. He subsequently transitioned to private for-profit boards and currently holds positions on the boards of Baltimore Equitable Insurance and Chesapeake Employers Insurance. His responsibilities encompass roles such as Board Chair, Audit Committee Chair, Nominating Committee Chair, and Investment Committee Chair. 

Alexander holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Morehouse College and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

As a Director on the Board of Harford Mutual Insurance Group, Tedd will serve on both the Investment and Governance Committees. 

John DeMartini
Retired Managing Director
Guy Carpenter LLC

John DeMartini has over 40 years of experience in strategic risk management, creating analytics and practices to assess, manage, and transfer risk, and resolving operational risk issues to meet financial goals. He has leadership experience in the reinsurance market, having worked for a leading reinsurance broker. DeMartini has contributed to the design of a catastrophe analytics platform for treaty clients and developed spatial analysis software to help clients evaluate and transfer their risk appropriately. 

DeMartini was the Executive Vice President and Principal of Towers Perrin, later becoming Managing Director after its acquisition by Guy Carpenter, LLC. In 2002, he became a treaty broker, overseeing property/casualty reinsurance programs for regional and specialty clients, and managing account teams to coordinate actuarial, claims, accounting, and IT resources. 

DeMartini received both the Chairman’s Award and the Vandegraff Award for Outstanding Service during his time with Towers Perrin. He is a founding member of the International Society of Catastrophe Managers, a past president and board member of the Yorktown Athletic Club, and a past vice president and board member of Mahopac Golf Club. DeMartini serves on the Board of Directors for Farmers Mutual of Nebraska and is a member of the advisory board for The Demex Group, a risk analytics and intelligence firm specializing in reinsurance for severe convective storms.   

DeMartini became a member of the Harford Mutual Board of Directors in 2023 and currently serves on the Compensation, Governance, and Risk Committees. Additionally, he holds the position of Chair-Elect for the Governance Committee. 

Sean Garber
Chairman & CEO
Algar, Inc.

Sean Garber has owned and served as President/Chief Executive Officer of Algar, Inc. since 2005, a company specializing in the sale of new and used auto parts, as well as automobile and metal recycling.  Algar, Inc. owns and operates multiple auto and scrap metal recycling facilities in several territories throughout the United States. 

Garber was a founding member of the Louisville Young Entrepreneur Organization and is currently a member of the Automotive Recycling Association, Commissioner of the Kentucky Unemployment Insurance Commission, and a Council member on the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. He has served on the Board of Directors of QRP Midwest, the Midwest Board of Directors of PRP, the National Board for PRP, and has chaired the Transportation Committee for the past 5 years.  

Garber was a KESA Board of Trustees member from 2011 to 2017 and chaired the ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company Board, managing its transition to a stock subsidiary and merger with Harford Mutual Insurance Group in 2023. He joined Harford Mutual’s Board of Directors in 2023 and serves on the Compensation and Risk Committees. Sean is married to his wife Lisa of 35 years and has two adult sons and one grandson.  

Teresa McTague
Retired Chief Investment Officer
U.S., Aflac Global Investments

Teresa McTague is an accomplished senior executive with over three decades of expertise in investments, capital markets, finance, portfolio management, asset management, and risk management. She recently concluded her tenure as the Senior Managing Director at Aflac Global Investments, where she was a founding member and held several significant positions, including U.S. Chief Investment Officer, Head of Asset Management Risk, Global Head of Direct Lending, Real Estate and Infrastructure Debt, as well as Global Head of ESG Investment Strategies. McTague’s extensive experience includes senior roles at General Re – New England Asset Management, General Reinsurance Corporation, Johnson & Higgins, Alexander & Alexander, and the Federal Home Loan Bank.  

McTague held a leadership role with the General Reinsurance Investments team and was a member of the Risk Committee at General Reinsurance. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley, followed by a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. 

McTague joined the Board of Directors of Harford Mutual Insurance Group in 2021 and presently serves on the Audit and Investment Committees, additionally chairing the Risk Committee.
